You cannot carry the light. A beam enters each room from a fixed source and is always burning. What you can do is walk up to the mirrors and turn them, bending that beam onto the things that answer to it.

Everything in the world responds to light, not to touch. Plates hold bridges up only while they are lit. Receivers latch open for good. Lanterns catch the beam and burn, throwing light four ways - and while one burns, you can stand on it. Prisms split the beam so it can do two jobs at once. And one path closes when you shine on it.

The dark is not empty. Clouds hide what lies under them until you put out the red eye inside. Some eyes wander. Some are shelled, and one beam will never break them. And in the deep rooms, only the cells the beam is touching will hold your weight — so the light stops being a switch and becomes a floor you have to keep alive under your own feet.

Thirty-two rooms, about fifteen minutes, ending with one tower climbed in three — where nothing resets, and every mirror you turned on the way up is still exactly where you left it.
